We want to make sure our Team Members are set up for the best experience possible as they support our mission to be the most trusted and convenient destination for pet parents everywhere while working from home.
We recommend roughly 48 inches to support two 27 inch monitors and a physical desk phone (hard phone). You will also need 3 power outlets for power to your equipment.
In order to support our applications, your network needs to have a minimal speed (and maintain these speeds) of 30Mbps down, 10Mbps up, and less than 100ms latency.
Identifying Your Internet Speed
It's best to test this using an ethernet cable connected to your service provider router during your heaviest usage of your network to get the most accurate results.
Open a web browser (Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, or Microsoft Edge)
In the search bar, type in speedtest.net
Speedtest.net website will open with a “Go” button in the middle of the browser. Click on “Go” and record your screen results.
Your router will be a network device that is provided to you by your internet service provider. The router will have ports in the back where you would connect, usually 4 ports. You will need 1 of those ports for your computer internet setup.
Type of Internet Connection
Our systems do not support wireless networks. This is why we provide an ethernet cable as you will need to connect to the internet directly from your router. We provide you with a 25ft. network cable to connect to your router, so you will need to be within that distance to be able to connect your device. If you are not within that distance, please seek alternatives to either purchase a longer network cable or arrange your desk space before your first day of orientation.
Internet Service Provider (ISP)
Internet service providers (ISPs) typically offer various internet plans and packages. While the minimum required speeds are at least 30 mbps (download) and 10 mbps (upload) to support working in a virtual environment, there are other factors to consider as well, such as the maximum number of devices that can be connected simultaneously to your router, the ability to access all ports and IP addresses needed to support our virtual workspace, and the ability to physically connect a cable between your company-provided equipment and router.
You will receive a phone that requires its own connection, in addition to a PC/thin client (which will also count as a connection), for a total of two “connected devices” from the perspective of your internet provider.
Some internet packages may limit the number of connected or active devices on your home network. Please verify with your ISP before your start date:
Your internet plan supports working from home.
You have access to necessary network ports: 22, 443, 4421, 7234, 3389.
Your internet plan can support an additional two (2) concurrently connected devices on your network.
